Korg B2 / B2SP Digital Piano: Master Command & Shortcode Reference
This reference guide covers all input combinations, shortcodes, and hidden functions for the Korg B2, B2SP, and B2N digital pianos. Most advanced settings are triggered by holding down the control buttons while pressing specific keys on the piano.
1. Core Modes & Power Commands
- Enter Partner Mode (Split Keyboard): Hold down the METRONOME button and press the POWER button to turn the instrument on. This splits the keyboard into two identical pitch zones (ideal for duets or teaching). Note: This must be done while the piano is powered off.
- Play Demo Songs: Press PIANO PLAY and SOUND simultaneously to start the demo cycle.
- Disable Auto Power-Off: By default, the piano turns off after 30 minutes of inactivity. To disable this, hold PIANO PLAY and SOUND simultaneously and press the Auto Power-Off Disable key (the highest key on the keyboard, C8).
2. Instant Sound Selection
Instead of pressing the SOUND button repeatedly to cycle through patches, you can select them directly. This is particularly useful for jumping straight to the richer classical piano sounds without cycling through the entire bank.
Action: Hold the SOUND button and press one of the first 12 white keys (starting from the lowest note, A0):
- Key 1 (A0): German Concert Piano
- Key 2 (B0): Classic Piano
- Key 3 (C1): Italian Concert Piano
- Key 4 (D1): Jazz Piano
- Key 5 (E1): Ballad Piano
- Key 6 (F1): Stage E.P.
- Key 7 (G1): 60's E.P.
- Key 8 (A1): Digital E.Piano
- Key 9 (B1): Harpsichord
- Key 10 (C2): Pipe Organ
- Key 11 (D2): Electric Organ
- Key 12 (E2): Strings
3. Touch Sensitivity (Key Weight Response)
Action: Hold down the PIANO PLAY and SOUND buttons simultaneously, then press one of the following white keys to alter how the keys respond to dynamics:
- 11th White Key (D2): Lighter Touch
- 12th White Key (E2): Normal Touch (Default)
- 13th White Key (F2): Heavier Touch
4. Transposition & Master Tuning
Action: Hold down the PIANO PLAY and SOUND buttons simultaneously while pressing the corresponding keys:
- Transpose Down: Press keys between F6 and B6 to lower the pitch in semitones.
- Transpose Up: Press keys between C#7 and F7 to raise the pitch in semitones.
- Reset Transpose: Press C7 to return to standard tuning.
- Master Tuning (Fine Pitch): Press the designated Pitch Higher / Pitch Lower keys. Press both the Higher and Lower keys simultaneously to instantly reset the tuning to A4 = 440 Hz.
5. Effects Control (Reverb & Chorus)
Action: Hold down the PIANO PLAY and SOUND buttons simultaneously, then press:
- Reverb On / Off: Toggles the acoustic space effect.
- Chorus On / Off: Toggles the modulation effect (highly recommended for E.Piano patches).
6. Advanced Metronome Settings
Action: Hold the METRONOME button, then press the designated keys on the keyboard to map your values:
- Tempo Adjustment: Use the "x100", "x10", and "x1" multiplier keys to build your exact BPM, or use the sequence numbers if mapped.
- Time Signature (Beat): Press the "Low" or "High" beat keys to cycle through 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 6/4, etc.
- Metronome Volume: Press the lower/higher volume setting keys on the left side of the keyboard to balance the click track against your playing volume.
